JEANIE FINLAY: SOUND IT OUT

Price: £5 on the door, prebooking essential.

The sneak preview of the film will be followed by a Q&A session with the artist. This will be followed by a gig with Das Wunderlust, the band who created the soundtrack for the film.

SOUND IT OUT is a documentary portrait of the very last surviving vinyl record shop in Teesside, (45 mins) which will premier at the Sideshow Alley Cafe at One Thoresby Street.

Director: Jeanie Finlay (Goth Cruise - IFC)

Starring: Tom, Kelly, David, Daniel, 70,000 records and the good people of Teesside

A distinctive, funny and intimate film about men, obsession and the irreplaceable role music plays in our lives.  SOUND IT OUT will be the first fully independent, self-shot film by director Jeanie Finlay who grew up in the North East, three miles from the shop.

This film has been co-financed in a unique way by members of the public using crowd funding on indiegogo. You can contribute to the film here: www.indiegogo.com/sound-it-out

*Makina: a genre of happy hardcore dance music, popular only in Valencia and the North East

Sideshow 2010

In October 2010, Sideshow will take place for the second time round supporting the prestigious British Art Show 7, “In The Days Of The Comet” curated by Lisa Le Feuvre & Tom Morton, for its nationwide launch at Nottingham Contemporary, The New Art Exchange and The Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery.
Sideshow complements Nottingham’s growing artist-led scene and do-it-yourself attitude towards contemporary art and will be made up of both, individual artists projects and selected commissions of new works.
